April/May
In April we started the application process for the 2023 Grant Cycle. Thanks to your contributions we had $7,350 to distribute to non-profits in Centre County with the express purpose of funding programs with focus on women and children. In May we gathered for a luncheon to hear updates from 2 of our 2022 Grantees:
-
Discovery Space: awarded $3,724 for security cameras.

August/September
In our August newsletter we rolled out the refreshed Women United branding. The Women United naming was adopted by United Way Worldwide in 2017. Transitioning to Women United helps reinforce national branding, demonstrates our partnership with our greater network, and brings an abundance of marketing and branding support. And in September we gathered to at the Garden's Restaurant to hear from our 2022 Grantees:
- YMCA: awarded $3,600 for Dolphins, a mental health program for kids.
- CenClear Child Services: awarded $620 to support transition of children into kindergarten.

October/November
In October we saw our grant funds in action as work on the Children's Space at the courthouse was completed. Transforming an ordinary confrence room into a welcoming, calming, safe haven for youth awaiting court proceedings. November brought our first ever Women United Afterhours Event at the Rivet, where we had the opportunity to create our own ring dishes. Jen Pencek of CentreSafe joined us for the evening to discuss the legacy of Women United supporting CentreSafe and providing initial funding for the Child Access Center. We continued the long tradition of fundrasing to provide Holiday Gift Cards for each of the Child Access Center families.
